Two-factor authentication protects your myDartfish account by requiring a second sign in step. That second step keeps your account secure, even if your password is compromised.
Enable two-factor authentication
The second sign in step for two-factor authentication involves a validation code that you get from an authenticator app on your smartphone.
Note that if you’ve signed up with Google, Facebook, Apple, or via Single Sign-On (SSO), you’ll first be asked to define a myDartfish account password.
Use an authenticator app on your smartphone
- Install an authenticator app on your smartphone. We support most authenticator apps – some of the more common ones are Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo.
- Now, sign in to your myDartfish account at https://settings.dartfish.tv/Account and select Manage two-factor authentication.
Enter your password in the Current password field.
Follow the instructions on your screen to finish setting up.
Be sure to copy, print, or record your emergency recovery key and keep it in a secure place. A recovery key is essential to recovering your account if you lose access to your authenticator app.
You're all set up! The next time you sign in to your myDartfish account, use the authenticator app on your smartphone to find the code for the second sign in step.
Sign in with two-factor authentication
Once you've enabled two-factor authentication, you'll need your smartphone to sign in.
Sign in with authenticator app
1. When prompted by dartfish.tv, enter your email and password, then click Sign In.
2. You will be asked to enter a validation code retrieved from your authenticator app on your mobile device.
3. To get a new validation code:
- Open the authenticator app on your smartphone.
- Select the account labelled "Dartfish".
4. Enter the validation code displayed in your authenticator app on dartfish.tv.
If you don't have your smartphone or can't access your authenticator app, you can sign in to your myDartfish account using your emergency recovery key that you created previously.
Use your emergency recovery key instead of a validation code
If you don't have a validation code, you can use your recovery key.
1. Enter your email address and password as you do normally.
2. When the screen asks for a validation code, select Can't use your smartphone? link instead.
3. Enter your emergency recovery key.
4. You'll get a new emergency recovery key, because you can only use an emergency recovery key once. Copy, print, or record your new key.
If you've lost your emergency recovery key, see Sign in issues related to two-factor authentication or contact Dartfish support to get back into your account.
Create a new emergency recovery key
If you've lost your recovery key or have concerns that someone else has it, you can create a new key.
1. Sign in to your myDartfish account at https://settings.dartfish.tv/Account and select Manage two-factor authentication.
2. Enter your password in the Current password field.
3. Select Create new emergency recovery key.
4. Follow the instructions on your screen to create a new key.
Make sure to copy, print, or record your new recovery key, but treat it as securely as any other password. Note that the new recovery key replaces your old recovery key.
Disable two-factor authentication
If you disable two-factor authentication, your account will no longer have the protection of a second sign-in step.
1. Sign in to your myDartfish account at https://settings.dartfish.tv/Account and select Manage two-factor authentication.
2. Enter your password in the Current password field.
3. Under Disable two-factor authentication, select Disable to stop using two-factor authentication.
4. Click Confirm in the dialog that pops-up.
After you disable two-factor authentication, you no longer have to sign in with your authenticator app. You can re-enable two-factor authentication at any time.
Be aware that if your organization requires two-factor authentication, you may lose access to the channel content if it is disabled
