Purpose and scope
This article describes how to create and manage collaborative playlists on dartfish.tv. It explains how to invite collaborators, manage editing rights, and exchange feedback using event comments.
You will also learn how to configure email notifications to stay informed when other collaborators add, delete, or comment on events, and how these collaborative playlists can be viewed and used in the myDartfish Express mobile app.
What you can do
- A user can invite others to a playlist to collaborate on and discuss selected video event.
- The working group can interact in a private collaboration space, where only members with access to the playlist can:
- Add, remove, and edit events.
- Comment on individual events using a dedicated comment thread.
- A single match video can be used across multiple collaboration groups. Each group will have its own private playlist, allowing centralized access to content while maintaining group-specific discussions and edits.
Requirements
- All participants must have viewing rights to the source videos.
- To initiate a collaboration, the playlist owner must have a myDartfish Mobile Plus license or higher.
- Collaborators must have a dartfish.tv account.
Step-by-Step Guide

This opens a pop-up showing the current list of collaborators. The owner can remove existing collaborators or add new ones.
- To add new collaborators:
- Click the Add Collaborator button.
- Select the channel from which you want to choose member
- Use the Search field to filter members by typing the first few letters of their name or by specifying a member group.
- Choose one or more users from the filtered results.
- Click Add to confirm the selection.
- Note: If a member is already part of the collaboration, they will not be added a second time.
3. Joining the Playlist as a Collaborator
- New collaborators receive an email notification informing them that they’ve been added to the playlist.
- The new collaborative playlist will appear in their Playlists.
- Collaborators can view the list of other participants via the Collaborate button (the number of collaborators is overlaid on the button)
4. Collaborate on the Playlist
All group members can interact with the playlist using standard playlist functions.
➡️ [Refer to article: “Collaborating on Playlists” for full feature overview]
Changes made by one user (e.g., adding an event) will appear for others after refreshing their browser.
Commenting on Playlist Events
A built-in comment thread allows group members to discuss individual events via text.
Each participant can:
- Add a comment:
- Scroll through the playlist events.
- Click the Add Comments icon (speech bubble).
- Enter your message in the comments panel and click Save
- Edit or Delete only their own comments.
Other participants can read existing comments.
It is recommended to refresh the comment thread before posting new comments to ensure that the latest updates are displayed.
Note: Only your most recent comment can be edited or deleted
Earlier comments are locked to preserve the discussion history and ensure that other collaborators always see the context of previous exchanges unchanged.
Playlist ownership and deletion rights
In a collaborative playlist, the user who originally created the playlist and enabled collaboration is considered the owner.
- The owner can add or remove collaborators.
- Collaborators can view, edit, and comment on events but cannot manage playlist members.
In the Playlists page, available options differ depending on the user’s role:
- Collaborators see a Leave playlist button.
Clicking this button removes them from the collaboration but does not affect other participants or the playlist itself. - The owner sees a Delete button.
Clicking Delete permanently removes the playlist for all collaborators.
⚠️ Important: The owner is strongly advised to use Leave playlist instead of Delete, unless they intentionally want to remove the playlist for everyone.
If the owner chooses to leave the playlist, ownership is automatically transferred to the next collaborator in the list.
Notifications for collaborative playlists
Notifications are only relevant for collaborative playlists. When you work alone on a personal playlist, you won’t receive notifications about your own actions.
In a collaborative playlist, notifications help you stay informed about what other collaborators do.
How to configure playlist notifications
- Go to Account Settings → Notifications → Email notifications.
- The Email notifications page opens.
- In the Playlists section of this page, you can configure your notification preferences.
Here, you can enable or disable the following options:
- An event is added to the playlist (selected by default)
- An event is removed from the playlist
- A comment is added to an event (selected by default)
Notification frequency follows the standard content notification settings:
- Hourly digest — grouped notifications every hour
- Daily digest — a summary sent every 24 hours
Who receives notifications
If notifications are enabled, the playlist owner and all collaborators receive email notifications whenever another collaborator (not themselves) performs an action in the shared playlist.
Email content
Each notification email provides a summary of recent activity in the collaborative playlists you are part of.
A single email may include updates for one or several playlists.
For each playlist, the email contains:
- The playlist name, with a direct link to open it on dartfish.tv.
- A summary of recent changes, including:
- The number of events added,
- The number of events removed,
- The number of comments added.
- For comments, the email also lists the names of the collaborators who added them. Example: 5 new comments by — Collaborator A (3), Collaborator B (2).
Tip: Digest notifications provide an overview of all recent updates and include direct links to the affected playlists, allowing you to review the changes in one click.
