This article explains how to watch filtered videos and events on dartfish.tv — either one video at a time or as a smart playlist that plays every matching event back-to-back — and how to switch between the two. It also explains how to filter by clicking values in a Power BI report instead of keyword checkboxes, and how to save or pin your filters as a smart playlist. 

 

Purpose and Scope

On dartfish.tv, you filter videos and events using keyword filters in the Keyword Filters panel, or by clicking values in a Power BI report — a filter can apply to the video itself or to one of its events. Once you have filtered results, dartfish.tv offers two ways to consume them: 

  • Keeping the Keyword Filters panel next to the player lets you build and adjust a smart playlist while watching it: every change to your filters updates the playlist you are watching.
  • Keeping the list of matching videos next to the player lets you browse your filtered library and watch the videos one after another, or just the one you need. 

You can switch between the two at any time. 


What you can do 

  • Open a video directly from the list of matching videos, to browse and watch matches one at a time. 
  • Open every matching event as a smart playlist with Open Playlist, and adjust your keyword filters while watching it to refine the playlist in place.
  • Switch between the two with the Videos | Playlist toggle, without losing your filters.
  • Embed a Collection Power BI report to use as a KPI dashboard or as a visual way to filter videos of a collection by clicking values inside it, instead of selecting keyword checkboxes. 
  • Save your filters as a smart playlist, or pin them to your home page. 


Requirements 

The Report tab, which embeds the Collection Power BI report, requires the channel to have the Web API enabled. For an Unlimited channel, this is a paid option; it is included with a Giga channel. 


Step-by-step guide 

1. Filter your videos 

  1. Open a collection's Videos page. 
  2. In the Keyword Filters panel, select keyword filters on the Videos or Events tab — or select the Report tab and click a value inside the Collection Power BI Report instead, for example a player's name or a row in a table. 


Videos can be filtered by their own keywords, for example the season, and by keywords on their events, for example scoring chances for either team. 


Result: The list of matching videos updates to show every video that matches, whether the filter was on the video itself or on one of its events.


 

 


2. Watch a video, or watch everything as a playlist 

  • To watch one video, click it in the list. It plays with the list of matching videos still open next to it. 
  • To watch every matching event back-to-back, click Open Playlist in the Filters bar. It plays with the Keyword Filters panel open next to it, along with the full list of matching events and a Play All button. 

 


3. Switch between the two 

Use the Videos | Playlist toggle in the player header (shown as two icons on narrower screens): 

  • Playlist switches from a single video to the smart playlist of every matching event. 
  • Videos switches back to the list of matching videos and opens the video that contains the event you were watching. 


4. Save or pin your filters 

In the Filters bar above the list of matching videos: 

  1. Click Save as Smart Playlist to save your current keyword filters as a smart playlist you can find again later in your Playlists.
  2. Click Pin to add them to your home page. 
Save as Smart Playlist and Pin appear as icons in the Filters bar when there is room, and collapse into the … (more) menu on narrower screens.


Tips 

  • Use Save as Smart Playlist to keep a set of keyword filters you expect to reuse, so you don't have to set them up again. 
  • Use Pin for a smart playlist you check often, to reach it directly from your home page. 


FAQ 

Why can't I see the Collection Power BI report on my channel?  

It requires the Web API to be enabled on the channel. For an Unlimited channel, this is a paid option; it is included with a Giga channel. 


If I switch from the playlist to Videos, which video opens?  

The video that contains the event you were currently watching in the playlist.
